Bougainvillea and Rose Petals
We do both and both are special in their own way. Bougainvillea has a light and thin petal that floats beautifully as confetti, along with tropical and romantic connotations. Meanwhile Roses have thousands of years of history and romance associated with them, from Cleopatra to today. There are colours that Bougainvillea do better and those that Roses do better, so check through our shop to see which suits your scheme or plans best

Romantic Roses
Even though our Bougainvillea petals are great for some it has to be roses. The flower has always been revered through history and is rich in symbolism. It is the rose, in all its colours and shades that is associated most closely with love.

Why Fresh Freeze Dried Roses?
Freeze Drying is the most reliable way of drying petals without damaging the colour, shape and texture. The result is a perfectly preserved petal which keeps it's character for a long time. It is an expensive process and should not be confused with air drying which gives a much coarser and shrunken finish. Freeze Dried Rose petals can be used for confetti and table top decorations. If you want to emulate Cleopatra's banquet for Mark Antony, put them knee deep on the floor!

Grown Exclusively for Us

Our bougainvillea petals are grown uniquely for us in the tropics. We have chosen the varieties that make the best colours and nicest shaped petals. Here we have Valerie, who looks after the acres of bougainvillea growing under tropical sunshine.
Do not confuse our petals with the Pot Pourri Petals and petal pieces that come over by the sack from Asia. Many people have tried to sell it as confetti but it is not the same. Ours, under Valerie's control, are picked petal by petal and then sorted, dried and sorted again. Only the best are sent for us to use.
The petals have come a long way(by boat - to avoid air miles!), and provide a small industry that Joanna and myself set up in 2000, which of course provides employment and generates income for a small corner of West Africa

At last we can now supply our own english roses, grown on our small farm here in Devon. It is a real pleasure to watch the roses grow in the sunshine and open up to the the perfect shape before picking and freeze drying. Normally our roses came from over 4000 miles away, and then we have to open them and make sure the quality was good enough. Now it all happens naturally about 40 metres from our drier.
The savings are many, firstly we can now begin to offer good English Freeze Dried Roses at great prices, and secondly we are not selling a product that has had to be air freighted half way around the world and trucked across the UK to reach us. So that is a result, and I hope you will see how good they are and how beautifully they float as confetti.
On the right is Annie Mae our youngest daughter who is the chief rose picker.
